Many people say "Don't recommend what you would not use myself." However, I am clearly not a typical consumer, and here is the confirmation. The conference call with Shawn Casey and Tellman Knudson was a very controversial experience with many emotions at the same time. I guess, that's what they wanted all along.

Disappointment

I respect them both a lot. Still, as a prospect, I was greatly disappointed. For 24 minutes there was a non-stop fluff and bragging, how much money they make, how they won cars, who gets married, and who celebrates a birthday.

Then there was a few minutes of advice like "you need a squeeze page", "money's in the list", "you need an autoresponder, but don't spam", and "follow up messages are important!" Duh...

Then it continued non-stop with so called "social proof" - listing the names of people who bought their previous courses and made X thousands. On the minute 42 I gave up and hanged up.

Admiration

At the same time, it was an admirable and glorious work of a marketing in practice. While I was bored and missing fast forward button, I knew a lot of people are eagerly hanging on every word and get sold on the message. Did I say that I am not a typical prospect? Apparently, a lot of people buying hope, not knowledge. And all this smalltalk and social proof works right toward that goal.

Why do I think it works? Here are numbers from Tellman on the second day after the call. 50% of people on the seminar signed up. About the same number also signed up after the follow-up. That's really impressive. Of course, let's see how many of them will stay to the second month, but still it's a very impressive number. Not just respectful, phenomenal.

Recognition

You see, this is not a typical review with glowing remarks. Keep in mind that this is only the notes about the call, not the product itself. I even considered not publishing this at all, because as notes from the seminar, it's useless. You just learn what they did, but they did not really shared any useful information. So I felt that it would be unfair to publish this review, because it may be perceived as a review of the product, which I don't have.

So I went ahead an ordered the DVD. I did not get it yet, and once I'll get it, I'll update this page or write a separate review. Meanwhile I can share my first impressions from the List Building Club, Shawn's and Tellman's $97/month continuity program which is loaded on everybody buying DVD with a free one month trial. Of course, without details , which are supposed to be confidential, just my impression.

The first impression is that it is full of really basic stuff: how to buy domain, how to set theme in WordPress, what squeeze page is... BTW, squeeze page definition is here, if you did not know. It's just too basic for me. I constantly had to use fast forward and skip buttons to review the videos and audios.

However, if you really just starting and has no clue how to do those basic things, the value of this club may be enormous for you. Really. It will unblock or put you on a speed track on so many things, that it's definitely worth $7.95 for a month of membership, and then you can decide, if you need it more. So, I guess, I could holeheartedly recommend this deal even before getting the DVD. Anyway, check Shawn Casey's and Tellman Knudson list building course and club yourself, and then decide for yourself.
