Linkwheel

Summary:

Linkwheel is a SEO pattern that allows reaching high ranking and good organic (free search engine) traffic for selected keywords.

Name of the pattern:

Linkwheel
Authority wheel

When to use the pattern:

When you have a web page (blog, page, Web 2.0 property) targeted to specific keywords and you want high organic traffic for it.

How to use the pattern:

First, create a focus page. That's the page where you will get traffic. Normally, that's your money making page.

Then, create 6 Web 2.0 properties Squidoo lenses, hubpages, Blogger blogs, etc.), each with one article optimized for the same keyword and point to the focus property and the next Web 2.0 property in the wheel. It looks like this:

Linkwheel pattern

Then ping RSS feeds of every Web 2.0 property in the wheel and submit them all to social bookmarking sites (Delicious, Digg, etc.)

You are done.

Caveats:

1. Articles in the wheel may be nearly identical, just span versions of the same article, but they should be different from the content of the focus property.

2. When you create multiple wheels, you'll have to create individual blogs and often individual accounts for each wheel, otherwise it may be easily discovered by Google.

Details and comments:

You can get detailed report on Linkwheel pattern from his site http://lemonarian.com/.

Also, you may create subwheels to promote some of the properties of the original wheel, which become focus property for the new subwheel.

Keep in mind that the technique is sort of black hat SEO. Google does not like to be tricked. It seems that right now they are not able to detect clusters of 6+1 pages, so Linkwheel (at least according to a number of people) works. However, it's only a matter of time when they'll learn to detect this pattern, which may result in a new and significant "Google Slap"
